  1. Set Realistic Goals – Start with simple and realistic goals as it will help you stay motivated, later you can increase to bigger goals. You might get easily frustrated and give up if you are not able to achieve it. For Example, if you have not exercised for a while, start with 15 minutes daily and increase it to 30 minutes for 5 days a week. Or if you want to lose weight, aim for 3 to 4 kilograms in a month rather than aiming for 8 to 10 kilograms.
  2. Tracking your Progress – Keeping a track of your progress will help you to stay motivated and give you a boost to work hard and achieve your goals. Keep a regular check on your fitness levels and weight loss, as it will alert you if your exercise and diet are effective, and you can modify accordingly. Try not to weigh yourself every day, but once a week at the same time should be enough.
  3. Try New Ways – Doing the same exercise and following the same diet can become boring sometimes. If you have got bored doing the same then change to new exercises as you are more likely to stick to it if you enjoy it.
  4. Keep a Journal – Writing down your goals and your progress in a paper will keep you motivated. Record your exercises and your food, as sometimes we do not realize and overeat. You can write or login into your phones too, as there are many apps which record your food and exercise.
  5. Reward Yourself – Once you have achieved your goal, reward yourself with something small – let it not be food-related. It could be going for a swim or buying new walking shoes. This will help you to work for bigger goals.
  6. Be Forgiving – It is okay to eat a cake or ice cream once in a while when you want to, but don’t overdo it. Don’t feel guilty, but enjoy and relish it, and make better choices in your next meal.
  7. Be Consistent – It is crucial to work hard consistently to achieve your goals. You might not get the results very soon, as it takes time and effort. So be patient and work towards your goals so that you will achieve what you want.
